FG lauds PAN, Innoson, Stallion for investing N360bn in auto industry


President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday flagged off the 2020 Argungun Motor Rally, 10 years after the rally was last held. The president who was represented by the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, said the motor rally was to showcase Nigeria's local content initiative, resilience and ruggedness of locally assembled vehicles that can favourably compete with its counterparts anywhere in the world. The president acknowledged that the rally had to be put be suspended because of the pervasive security in 2010, adding: Today, it gratifying to note that the challenge of insecurity has reduced considerably, adding that the rally will also be a melting point for the promotion of Nigeria's rich culture and tourism potentials. In his remark, the host of the festival who is the governor of Kebbi State, Alhaji Atiku Bagudu, expressed appreciation to the president for supporting the Argungun festival through the motor rally which attracted about 17 local assembly car He said the success story of rice production Kebbi State has proven that Nigeria can meet its needs in any area of human endeavour. The rally which kicked off in Abuja around 11 am is expected to take the riders through 5 neighbouring states and will eventually round up Argungun where the festival has already begun. Also speaking, the Executive Director, Sales and Marketing, Mr. Shehu Sanni Daudu expressed optimism that ruggedness of it new Peugeot 508 variant will emerge at the 4-day rally. He also expressed delight at the introduction of its 19 seaters new Higher bus into the Nigerian market.
